Pro Architectura Award – 2021

For the Architectural Ceramics Restoration Works of Párisi Udvar Hotel

Gergely Kelecsényi fully coordinated the architectural ceramics restoration planning tasks for the Párisi Udvar Hotel. During the assessment of the existing condition and the preparation of the expert opinion, he applied several innovative diagnostic tools and methods, in addition to archival research, to uncover hidden faults in structures and elements that were not visible externally. For the restoration proposals, he developed modern and timeless, bespoke solutions. The design documentation was prepared with engineering precision, considering contemporary structural and load-bearing requirements.

The result of the exceptionally careful restoration work was the worthy rebirth of Central Europe’s largest ceramic-clad building. His approach blends engineering methodology, aesthetic sensitivity required for restoration, professional experience, thoroughness, precision, and practical problem-solving and organizational skills, all of which are present at the highest level.

The Párizsi Udvar Hotel Budapest, a heritage reconstruction project by Párizs Property Kft., won the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Gold Winner award in the Heritage Protection and Hotel categories.

KÉSZ Construction and Installation Ltd. – Kossuth Lajos Square

The National Main Square, renovated by KÉSZ Construction and Installation Ltd., also known as Kossuth Lajos Square, was awarded the Hungarian Product Grand Prize.

Since the first announcement of the Hungarian Product Grand Prize in 1998, 284 grand prizes have been awarded, promoting nearly 3,000 internationally acclaimed products and services that highlight Hungary’s most valuable asset – the performance of its intellectual capital. The Hungarian Product Grand Prize has become a quality certification and an alternative system that rightfully represents Hungary and reflects its successes in recent years.

Miklós Ybl Commemorative Medal

“The Hungarian National Bank issued the Ybl Miklós commemorative medal on April 3, 2014, in honor of the architectural giant born 200 years ago. In 1845, Ybl was commissioned by Count István Károlyi to renovate his Fót Castle and design a church for him. This commission proved to be a milestone in the architect’s life, as it laid the foundation for his fame. The obverse of the medal features the Fót Immaculate Conception Parish Church, a pivotal work in Ybl’s career, while the reverse shows Ybl’s portrait and signature. The medal was designed by sculptor Ildikó Erőss, who has been awarded the Barcsay Jenő Special Prize, the Kiss Nagy András Memorial Prize, and the Civitas Fidelissima Prize.”
